What is a suit?
A suit is one of the most popular garments in men’s and women’s clothing line. It consists of a jacket, trousers or skirt and a shirt. Suits often come in complimenting colors, and they are worn in professional and formal settings.
What are the components of a suit?
A suit is generally made of three or four components. So, let’s look at the components of any men’s or women’s suit.
Jacket
A jacket is the primary part of any suit. Jackets can be single-breasted with a single row of buttons or double-breasted with multiple rows of buttons. The jacket will also have pockets in the front and vents to allow easy movement.
Trouser
Trousers are made with the same or complementary fabric as the jacket in business suits. Men’s trousers can either be slim, regular, or relaxed fit. For more character, you can have wrinkles or a flat-front trouser. Moreover, trousers also have belt loops at the waistband.
Skirt
Women’s suits can also include skirts. These skirts can be knee-length to mid-calf and have tailored fits for better looks.
Waistcoat
A waistcoat is an optional item in suits. It adds a formal touch and converts the suit to the much-loved three-piece suit.
What are the different types of suits?
There are different types of suits based on designs and stitching types. Below are some common types of suits for both men and women.
Business Suit
As the name suggests, this suit suits professional and business settings. It is a single-breasted suit in simpler colors like black, navy blue, grey, etc., and it does not have many design elements.
Formal Suit
A formal suit is made from high-quality and luxurious fabrics. It also contains satin inserts; you can include tuxedos in formal suits.
Three-piece Suit
A three-piece suit contains three distinct items: a coat, trousers, and waistcoat. It is mostly used in formal settings and adds a simplistic and stylish touch to suit events.
